You and your children can visit our permanent collection at your own pace. Babette, John, and Mary will accompany you to ten stations and draw your attention to especially fascinating objects: the British plane used in the Airlift, also known as the “Candy Bomber,” the Berlin spy tunnel or the last guardhouse from Checkpoint Charlie. Kids are invited to solve puzzles, paint, and discuss what they have seen with their parents.
The tour begins at the Outpost Theater, a former American movie theater. Here you will find interesting information about the occupation of Berlin in 1945 and the Berlin Airlift. The exhibition on the Cold War era is housed in the former Nicholson Memorial Library. The various stations relate to children’s life experiences. This helps them to discover the historical connections in new ways and understand them better.
The quiz pad “Von Flugzeugen, Spionen und Boxhandschuhen” for children is available in German only. It can be purchased at the Museum for 3.00 EUR or downloaded for free:
